There's something about open-air dining. It doesn't matter if it's in a food court or outside on a patio - eating outdoors is just...great. Often, diners feel more relaxed, ore at ease and, if operated properly, can be a driving force when it comes to sales.
Outdoor dining can do many positive things for a quick serve restaurant. Today we will look at five ways outdoor space an lead to big-time results for restaurants.
1. Outdoor dining brings in the laid-back, casual crowd. You can be as stuffy as you want on the inside but a patio say "casual" to just about every diner. Patios are just about the opposite off pretentious and maintaining a patio space for diners is incredibly easy.
2. People tend to linger on patios...and therefore buy more food and drink. Patios are so inviting that some guests forget that, at some point, they actually have to leave. In the meantime, they buy more appetizers, more entrees, more drinks, more desserts...you get the idea.
3. Patios can be an important marketing tool. A patio is a great way to market your restaurant through drink and appetizer specials and seasonal menu items that will drive people to your location for some outdoor fun.
4. Patios add seating during the busy season. There's nothing better than flexible seating. For some restaurants, a patio can double their occupancy - and this can mean big gains for the bottom line.
5. Patios can often be used for entertainment. Having music play to diners in your outside patio is one thing, but what about live music for diners? For some restaurants, it make sense to have live music a few nights a week. Depending on the brand, that might mean a local R&B or rock band - or it might mean an acoustic ensemble to give some atmosphere to the place.
As you can see, outdoor dining is big when it comes to restaurants. Making the most of it can mean added guests - and added profit.
