We’ve talked before about the origins of the hamburger. Of course, the menu item is so popular around the world that many places have claimed the burger as their own original invention. The USA is no exception. As a country that knows its way around some meat – including the burger – it’s made the claim to be the birthplace of the burger as early as 1900 in a place called Louis’ Diner in the shoreline city of New Haven.
Legend of the Burger: Truth? Fiction? Somewhere in the Middle?
Legend has it that, in 1900, a rushed customer approached the diner (which was actually a mobile lunch truck at that point) and requested a fast lunch be made to-go. Louis Lassen – namesake and owner of the truck – didn’t waste any time. He grabbed the trimmings from the trucks usual steak sandwiches, put it between two pieces of toast, handed it to the customer and VOILA! the burger was born into the world.
Apparently, not much has changed since that day at Louis’ Diner. Today, the diner still sells burgers the way it always has – with only cheese, tomatoes, or onions. We won’t even speculate about the response you’d get if you asked for a condiment. Besides, if they invented the burger, it stands to reason that they don’t have to be nice about it.
Now the U.S. Library of Congress has confirmed all of this. So in the USA, this is a done deal.
So if Fuel Shack Didn’t Invent the Burger, What ARE we Doing?
So what does this have to do with Fuel Shack? Well, it’s not so much the invention of the burger that we concern ourselves with in Malaysia. If the USA wants that claim to fame, we’re all for it. What we’re about at Fuel Shack is RE-inventing the burger for Malaysians who want thick, juicy burgers that taste amazing (or at least better than they did in 1900).
And that’s what we’ve done – visit any Fuel Shack location in Malaysia and you’ll find that we’ve re-defined the burger in a way that you won’t just love – you’ll crave.
If the Burger was “Born in the USA” it can be RE-born in Malaysia
We Declare Malaysia as the RE-birthplace of the Hamburger!
Ok, it may seem a bit far-fetched, but we said it – and we mean it. And we mean it with each and every burger that we serve – we are constantly taking something that is over 100 years old and doing what we can, as burger fans, to keep the burger popular and fresh (literally) for our valued customers.
That’s why we pick the best meat around, the best toppings and serve it just the way you like it each and every time.
So, did we invent the hamburger? Of course not. But it just might taste like we did.
We look forward to serving you soon.
